38wk appointment (January 10th, 2013)

We had my 38wk appointment today!  I went there thinking, "I can't believe I have this appointment and one other scheduled and then I'm done being seen here." That was a fast 9 months!

Other than having another less than stellar experience with the medical assistants/LPNs (the same ones!), we got to see my Doctor.

My blood pressure was high and so I had to lay on my side for awhile and then they rechecked it.  When I'm not laying down my blood pressure readings are usually high.  After I lay down awhile though, it comes down, which is good. The doctor isn't overly concerned about it, but she started talking about induction.

The verdict is ... we'll have an appointment and ultrasound (biophysical profile) on Monday to see how things are with Baby.  They'll check her size, her fluids and how active/reactive she is.  If she's tolerating things well and/or if I have normal blood pressure, they'll induce me by the end of the week.  If she's not tolerating things well or if my blood pressure is high, I could be induced as early as Tuesday.

We're very excited but we're also very overwhelmed.  The part of me that enjoys having a plan, a routine, a rhythm to my life, appreciates the "planning" part of an induction.  Although, she did say that I could go into labor on my own between now and then.  She said that I was about 2cm dilated and she didn't say how effaced I was but last week I was 50% so I've got to imagine it's still around there or closer to 75%?!

We have a thousand different thoughts, emotions, to-dos, wonders, questions etc going through our heads.  It's just unreal that the time has finally come to meet our Baby Girl.  Way back in May I thought that it would take forever for the time to get here.

We'd appreciate any well wishes, thoughts or prayers that you could send our way!
